The WE concert began in 2013 when then 7th grader Mrinalini Somani was inspired to use her musical talent to ensure equally talented yet resource-poor peers had access to quality training. Her peers were children in the Salaam Bombay Academy of the Arts, that provided training in Indian and Western Contemporary Dance, Theatre, Music and the Creative Arts.

Beginning with 1 school, today, students from more than 17 of Mumbai's finest schools along with international students from the UK and dancers from the Salaam Bombay Dance Academy, come together over a 3 hour long concert. The concert, a mixture of jazz, pop, rock and Bollywood, has become an aspirational event for millennial music enthusiasts. To date, WE has raised close to Rs.1.58 scholarships for talented underprivileged children with a passion for pursuing the Arts.
